Washburn Field
The oldest football stadium west of the Mississippi River, Washburn Field, in Colorado Springs,or as Colorado College students call it, "The Wash", has hosted football since 1898.
Capacity: 3,000 or as many as they can wedge in.
Note: The first game played here on October 1, 1898 was called at halftime with Colorado College leading 24-0 against North Denver High School (talk about scheduling a cupcake!). Anyway, there was a downtown fire that day that eventually destroyed 50 buildings. Players from both sides were called in to help fight the fires.
Talk about putting the burn in Washburn!
